Search

Semantic search: one GET request with what you want in plain words, matched by meaning rather than exact words. No key.

The request

  • q: what you want, up to 300 characters. Put the place and the price in it when they matter.
  • near: a place (Austin, TX, 11211) or lat, lng. It overrides a place in q.
  • domain: homes, work, services, businesses, goods (products), cars or events. Read from q when left out.
  • cursor: the next page, from the Next page link.

The answer

Markdown, ten results to a page and at most 100 for one search. Each result is a heading, its facts as plain lines, then labelled lines:

  • Searched: how the search was read: the kind, the place and the price.
  • Contact: the owner’s inbox address. See Contacting owners.
  • Apply: the employer’s own form, for jobs that need it.
  • Source: where a collected listing came from, and when it was last checked.
  • Link: the result’s own address, for reading it again.

Send Accept: application/json, or add format=json, to get the same Markdown wrapped in JSON with each result’s id, kind and url.

Reading a result again

GET /v1/listings/{id} returns one listing, and says so when it has ended. Read a result again before acting on it.
